Mario turned 21 in March. He was recently declared cancer-free after a sudden diagnosis and intense treatment, during which he mitigated the effects of chemotherapy with marijuana to reduce nausea. And he has what he calls a dream job, working for Karuna, a recreational marijuana company hoping to get licensed in Illinois and open a dispensary and cultivation center in Forest Park.

After two public meetings about the likely arrival of recreational marijuana sales and cultivation come January, one thing seems clear: Forest Parkers are more curious than confrontational about legalized pot sales.
Some two dozen locals turned out Friday night at village hall to learn more about what it will mean if Forest Park is successful in attracting a vendor who will both grow the marijuana and also dispense it here — though in two distinct sites.
